While we hope you don’t encounter any issues during your stay, sometimes things do go wrong. Below you will find solutions to some common problems our guests encounter during their stay. We appreciate you trying these before giving us a call.
Air Conditioning
If your A/C is not working properly, check to ensure the switch is in the “on” position. Then be sure the thermostat is set to Cool and the fan is set to Auto. Please allow time for the unit to cool down. **Please keep all doors and windows closed when using the air condition, constant opening and closing of doors lets the cool air out and the humidity in, resulting in the A/C working extra hard to cool the unit back down.
**Closing the blinds and curtains during the hottest hours of the day
can also help keep the unit cooler. (Please be kind to our blinds!)
**Setting the unit below 70°F could cause the A/C to freeze up.
No Water / No Hot Water
Be sure that the water valve is turned on.. If there is water, but no hot water please call the Sea Gypsy Vacation Rental office. Please allow 15-25 minutes for water to heat up.
Refrigerator Not Cooling (or not cold)
Check the settings on the refrigerator to see if it has been turned down/off. Make sure the light is on in the refrigerator (it has power). Do not put a lot of warm canned beverages or warm food items in at once. Doing so could result in a wait time of approximately 24 hours for everything to cool down. Do not turn the refrigerator to the coldest setting, this could freeze up and damage the unit.
Television
Be sure the cable box and television are both plugged into an outlet and turned on. Be sure the TV is on the correct input as well. Please review the specific TV directions for the unit you are staying in. Please make sure TV is tuned to the proper HDMI and that the remote is turned on.
WiFi
If the Wi-Fi is not working, try turning your device off and then back on. Please review the specific WiFi directions for the unit you are staying in.
Storm Issues
Coastal thunderstorms can be very sudden and very severe. Avoid using appliances during storms. Lightning strikes on FMB are not uncommon. If certain appliances or areas of the property are left without power, check the circuit breakers to see if they have kicked off during the storm.
**Contact Sea Gypsy Vacation Rentals with any problems or questions.

The Town of Fort Myers Beach Ordinance 96-24 sets limits on noise levels during quiet hours, and these levels shall be obeyed by all guests. Please remember that you are staying in a residential neighborhood and your consideration is appreciated by those permanent residents around you.

If you would like to have your unit cleaned more frequently, housekeeping can be arranged for an additional charge.
Shelling
Collecting beautiful shells is a favorite pastime on Fort Myers Beach. Locals and visitors alike spend hours hunched over looking for the perfect treasure! The best time to find a treasure is during low tide or the day after a storm has passed. We have posted guides on proper shelling techniques and etiquette. Please take a moment to review these guides and remember that taking ANY live shell may result in a $500 fine (for each live shell). If you are not sure what is still alive, give us a call at the Sea Gypsy office or ask one of our friendly locals out on the beach………you’ll find they love to share knowledge about our island and its animal inhabitants!
Dogs on FMB
You will find we love dogs (and cats) on FMB! Almost the entire beach is open to dogs (on a 6’ or less leash, NO EXCEPTIONS). The only areas dogs are not allowed are in Lee County parks and beaches (Bowditch Point, Lynn Hall Park and beach, and Crescent Beach). Everywhere else including many restaurants with outdoor seating welcome you and your four legged family member. Please bring your own waste bags as the beach access receptacles have not yet been fully repaired from Hurricane Ian.
